Jpeg vs Raw

  1. A raw file is an unprocessed image file that contains all the data captured by the camera’s sensor, it preserves more details, colors, and dynamic range, giving you greater flexibility in post-processing. A JPEG file is a compressed image format that sacrifices some image quality and data to reduce file size.
  2. Raw files are bigger than JPEG files because they contain more data. Raw files store all the information captured by the camera’s sensor, resulting in larger file sizes.
  3. Yes, you can convert a raw file to a JPEG file on your computer. Many photo editing software programs, like Adobe lightroom or Photoshop, allows you to export or save a raw file as a JPEG.
  4. If i were shooting an important event, I would choose to shoot in raw format. Shooting in raw during post-processing. It allows me to adjust exposure, white balance, and other settings without losing as much image quality.
